Artwork Guide

Whether you're a designer or uploading artwork for the first time, these guidelines will help you get the best print result.

Accepted

Raster Files

Pixel-based files work well but need to be supplied at the right resolution. See resolution requirements below.

.PNG .JPG .TIFF .PSD
We accept all file types. If you're not sure whether your file is suitable, upload it anyway and we'll check it as part of the proofing process.
  • Stickers & decals 300dpi at final print size
  • Window graphics 150 to 300dpi at final print size
  • Floor graphics 150dpi at final print size
  • Wallpaper & wall murals 100 to 150dpi at final print size
  • Backlit graphics 150 to 300dpi at final print size
Important Resolution must be set at final print size, not thumbnail or screen size. A 72dpi image scaled up to print size won't produce a sharp result. If you're not sure about your file's resolution, contact us before ordering.

Do

  • Supply artwork in CMYK colour mode
  • Use Pantone swatches converted to CMYK for brand colours
  • Proof colours on a calibrated monitor where possible
  • Use 100% black (K only) for black text

Don't

  • Supply RGB files if colour accuracy is critical
  • Use rich black (CMYK mix) for small text
  • Rely on screen colour to match print colour
  • Use neon or fluorescent colours, which can't be reproduced in CMYK
If your file is in RGB we'll convert it to CMYK before printing. Colours may shift slightly in conversion, with blues going purple and bright reds deepening. If colour accuracy is important, supply your file in CMYK.

Stickers, Decals & Floor Graphics

  • Add 3mm bleed on all sides
  • Keep important content 3mm inside the cut line
  • Extend background colours and patterns to the bleed edge
  • Include a cut line if supplying a custom shape
YOUR ART Bleed 3mm past cut Cut line where it trims Safe area keep text inside

Wallpaper & Large Format

  • Add 50mm bleed on all sides
  • Keep important content 50mm inside the trim edge
  • Extend background to the bleed edge
YOUR ART Bleed 50mm past trim Trim edge finished size Safe area keep content in Eyelet zones (keep clear)
Bleed ensures there are no white edges after trimming. If your artwork has no bleed, we'll flag it in your proof before printing.

For clear stickers, window decals or any product where you want a transparent background, supply your artwork as one of the following:

  • PNG with transparent background Preferred for raster artwork
  • AI, EPS or PDF with no background fill Preferred for vector artwork
White areas in your artwork will print white and won't be transparent. Remove any white background layer if you want full transparency. If you're not sure, upload your file and we'll confirm in your proof.

Do

  • Outline all fonts before saving (in Illustrator, go to Type, Create Outlines)
  • Embed fonts if supplying a PDF
  • Use a minimum font size of 6pt for legibility at final print size
  • Use 100% black (K only) for black body text

Don't

  • Supply editable AI or PDF files without outlining fonts
  • Use very thin fonts at small sizes, as fine strokes can drop out in print
  • Place text too close to the cut line or trim edge
  • Use font sizes below 6pt
  • Maximum print width 1524mm (60 inches)
  • Maximum print length Unlimited
  • Products wider than 1524mm Supplied in panels that butt join
For large format projects such as wall graphics and oversized prints, artwork may be split into panels for production and installation. We'll confirm the panel layout as part of the proofing process.

Checklist

  • File is in CMYK colour mode
  • Resolution is correct for product and size
  • Fonts are outlined or embedded
  • Bleed has been added
  • Important content is within the safe zone
  • Background extends to the bleed edge
  • Transparent areas are genuinely transparent

Common Mistakes

  • Low resolution images scaled up
  • RGB colour mode supplied for colour-critical work
  • Fonts not outlined in editable files
  • No bleed or insufficient bleed
  • White background instead of transparent
  • Text too close to cut line
  • Screen resolution (72dpi) artwork
